The Light at the End of the Tunnel

On July 13, 2004, in Politics, by Henshaw

I was just watching Hardball with Chris Matthews. He’s by far one of my favorite political commentators. He was a speechwriter for Jimmy Carter so he’s obviously a little liberal, but I can hardly watch his show now. I guess he’s had it with Bush, but he talks as if WMD didn’t exist in Iraq. It’s been really interesting to see over the past few months how any good news out of Iraq is quickly swept under the rug.

Now I know part of this is partly because 80% of journalists vote Democratic, but also because the handwriting is on the wall in this election. A poll regarding Bush’s handling of the economy came out today. Bush is at the same level that President Reagan was in June of 1984 and President Clinton in 1996. In other words, Bush will not lose over the economy. In fact no President has ever lost a bid for reelection when the economy is good. So I expect the rhetoric about Iraq to become ridiculous. Meanwhile the news in Iraq is improving. I wonder if anyone actually will ever notice with all the doom and gloom going on?

Enough politics… Tomorrow is my last day at Circuit City. I think that’s one of the greatest phrases in the world. Almost as good as Taylor is the most incredible woman I have ever met (and I love her). It’s a short day, and then I have another phone interview with ACA. I’m crossing my fingers on that. : )
