Albert Arnold “Al” Gore, Jr.

Al GoreThis isn’t a new theory. Al Gore will be the next president of the United States. I’m not going to advance it as my own; however, it seems to becoming a more likely scenario. Well, more likely than it was a month ago. A month ago Obama was the savior of the world. His speeches continue to draw thousands, but his message was muddled in generalities. Obama’s voting record is short, his experience is lacking, and no one really knows much about him. That was until Clinton started hammering away. Now it’s common knowledge that Obama attended a church of a hate monger for twenty years and even had his children baptized at the congregation. He’s even given large sums of money to the church. Obama gave an eloquent speech today about race that I guess liberals will love, but it won’t matter. The Senator from Illinois is only discussing this matter now because he’s a viable candidate for president. His high rhetoric is empty. Obama should be known more for his connections to members of the Weather Underground than for his speeches about hope and unity.

These are radical forces. Obama has been able to skate by with talk of a new utopia; however, how long can this last when he’s defined by people who are out of touch with mainstream thinking. In today’s speech Obama blamed President Reagan for using the issue of Affirmative Action and Welfare as a tool for racial division. Maybe some of that tough talk should be directed to the hate monger who Obama has listened to for twenty years. This isn’t new leadership, but more of the same tired divisive language of the past three decades.

So what does this have to do with Al Gore? Everything. The Democrats appear to be headed to the convention without a winner. Obama will likely have more delegates, but Clinton won’t throw in the towel. If Clinton pulled out nomination with a back room delegate maneuver it would cripple the part in November. I don’t think Clinton or Obama can beat McCain at this point. McCain currently enjoys a six point lead against both prospective Democrat candidates.

There’s only one person who can unite the party. That person is the Nobel Peace Prize award winner Al Gore. He is loved by Democrats and he’s not really seen by the country as a radical (even though he’s super serial). His ascension to the nomination would be a huge story and I don’t think McCain could grab a foothold in the race. If the election comes down to the economy Gore would steamroll McCain. It would likely be close, but I think Gore could do it. I definitely think he has a better chance than either Clinton or Obama. It’s only March though, and everything can change.
