With the lull in Global Warming some “scientists” are coming up with new “theory” to protect the billion dollar industry from going belly up. We are now being told that we need to wait until 2015 for the warming to occur. This is so beyond ludicrous I can’t believe it’s happening. Meanwhile every year between now and 2015 that’s warmer than average will be greeted with fear and trepidation. How come when the Earth cools it’s a natural phenomenon and when it warms it’s a man induced catastrophe? The often cited “warmest year on record” in 1998 was during an especially strong El Niño year. Isn’t it convenient how that fact is overlooked by the alarmists?
Despite the fact that there’s no real evidence that there is anything going that we should be alarmed about environmentalists are asking for taxes and regulations that will harm society. Thanks to the alarmists people are already facing food shortages. Mark Steyn (who always makes great points) had an opinion piece on the NRO on Sunday taking on this very topic.
Well, Western governments listened to the eco-warriors, and introduced some of the “wartime measures” they’ve been urging. The EU decreed that 5.75 percent of petrol and diesel must come from “biofuels” by 2010, rising to 10 percent by 2020. The U.S. added to its 51 cents-per-gallon ethanol subsidy by mandating a five-fold increase in “biofuels” production by 2022.
The result is that big government accomplished at a stroke what the free market could never have done: They turned the food supply into a subsidiary of the energy industry. When you divert 28 percent of U.S. grain into fuel production, and when you artificially make its value as fuel higher than its value as food, why be surprised that you’ve suddenly got less to eat? Or, to be more precise, it’s not “you” who’s got less to eat but those starving peasants in distant lands you claim to care so much about.
It is obvious that the “consensus science” about the climate is worthless. Over the last fifty years climatologists have been absolutely terrible at forecasting the weather. The Earth’s climate is far too complicated; however, scientists make wild claims about the future and people actually take it seriously. I thought we were past the “tipping point?” If there Earth doesn’t warm by 2015 that will twenty years of fairly uneventful change. Why should anyone be alarmed?
