turnout

There was some confusion about the election turnout numbers for a couple of days after the election. Some estimates had it at the highest turnout since 1908. Overall the 2008 election’s turnout was approximately 1.1% higher than 2004. The youth vote didn’t increase very much; however, 66% of voters picked Obama over McCain. In 2004, 54% of this same group backed Kerry. There’s no doubt that Obama was the more exciting and youthful candidate so that’s no real surprise.
