Zogby International took a post election poll of Obama voters that has drawn some ire from the Left. The main discovery isn’t really that surprising. After two years of puff pieces people don’t know much about the President-elect. Thanks to the mainstream press’ unending adoration of all things Obama people were far more likely to know more around McCain.
The 12-question, multiple-choice survey found questions regarding statements linked to Republican presidential candidate John McCain and his vice-presidential running-mate Sarah Palin were far more likely to be answered correctly by Obama voters than questions about statements associated with Obama and Vice-President-Elect Joe Biden.
It’s worth pointing out that Zogby is a Democrat. If anyone doubts the ability of the press to shape public opinion just look at the past two administrations. Clinton’s administration had a series of disasters both foreign and domestic (Somalia, Waco, Oklahoma City Bombing, Elian Gonzalez) and the press never viewed those events in the light of “failed executive leadership.” Contrast that to the last eight years where every conceivable problem has been laid at the feet of Bush. Imagine if there’s a major terrorist attack in September 2009. Is there any doubt that the press will blame Bush and not Obama?
It’s just obvious that media coverage is negative during a Republican administration and positive during a Democrat administration. It’s for that reason that I expect Obama to be perceived as a success as long as there aren’t any major disasters. The press is simply too invested in Obama for him to be seen as a failure. Hey, whatever makes Americans happy right?
You have thought up it? If yes, it has not bad turned out:)
Yeah, even the translation doesn’t make sense.
“It’s just obvious that media coverage is negative during a Republican administration and positive during a Democrat administration.”
So funny.
