This weekend I flew up to Cincinnati for a wedding. In between wedding festivities we had some to kill yesterday in Covington, KY. Fortunately for our group Maifest was going on across the street at MainStrasse Village. Here’s a little information according to their press release…
Maifest fills over six city blocks along the tree-lined 6th Street Promenade, Main Street and Philadelphia Street, and extends into Goebel Park. The German park-like atmosphere creates the perfect backdrop for the variety of appealing food, drink and works by nearly 100 artisans and craftsmen.
There was a ton of food available but I settled for Izzy’s famous rueben. Is it really famous? I’ll leave that to the philosophers to sort out, but I did like the sandwich. There wasn’t a very strong German vibe to the festival other than the signs for Spaten beer everywhere. For dessert I had some fried Oreos (6 for $5) and those were amazing. I’m pretty sure I’ll be working those off at the YMCA this week. Overall the festival was a lot of fun. The Beauty Pageant opened up the festival on Saturday. The Pageant featured three women. There were no questions about Gay marriage, but we did get to hear a lot about Shania Twain. Maifest was a great way to spend a Saturday with group of friends and the fried Oreo’s were amazing.
