Still Catching Up: Apparently I’m still behind on the news because I didn’t see this video. So begins the illustrious legend Basil Marceaux. The Republican Governor hopeful delivers one of the most incoherent campaign videos I’ve ever seen.

Basil 2012!

Oh yes, it’s hilarious. Some might say that this is just another backwoods (he’s from Pennsylvania) Southern Republican redneck. Or these things happen. The Democrats have Alvin Green. I know, I know, there’s no way he can be real? He must be a Republican plant.

Anyway, it begs the question, who would you vote for: Alvin Green vs. Basil Marceaux? What a great debate that would be. Both of these videos are a million times more compelling that the latest Palin video.

Budget Cuts: Reducing federal spending isn’t much of a priority for this Congress; however, there’s one area that Democrats love to cut: Defense. While the Democrats spend trillions they have manage to find $100 billion worth of defense cuts. These cuts will take place over the next five years. The plan is to cut the number of civilian employees by at least 15 percent. Can we apply this to rest of the government?

Non-Achievement: The Democrats have passed a lot of their agenda over the past two years. ObamaCare, financial stimulus, a Wall Street bill. That’s a strong record to champion during campaign season; however, the Democratic party is urging it’s candidates not to brag. When America hates your accomplishments what else can you do?

Presidential Impostors: John Blake at CNN has a pretty good article about how there’s always a group of Americans who can’t accept the current Commander and Chief. Over 20% of Americans still believe Obama wasn’t born in the United States, just like liberals who couldn’t get over Bush v. Gore. Most of the sources in the article are good until we get to Adam Hanft.

Proof of Obama’s citizenship has been presented: Two newspapers in Honolulu published announcements of his birth in Hawaii in August 1961. The Republican governor of Hawaii recently certified Obama’s birth certificate as legitimate.

But claims that Obama isn’t a legitimate president still resonate with some Americans because of Obama’s blackness and his “otherness,” says Adam Hanft, a cultural critic who writes and blogs on social trends.

When will CNN come to The Daily Plunge for quotes? Club Soda and yours truly also are cultural critics and who also write on a blog. Adam Hanft couldn’t help but to bring up race or “blackness” in this case. Notice I said this was a “pretty good” article by CNN. This is what it takes.
