I have never understood Christianphobia in the United States. Why is there this fear that Christians are trying to create a theocracy? I grew up in the South. I’ve lived in Georgia, North Carolina and in Florida. I have two uncles who are pastors of Assembly of God churches in the Northwest. Never in my short 32-year existence have I heard someone say that Christians should take over government. Not only is this manufactured fear myopic and dumb, it’s not Biblical.

The only reason why some liberal progressives feel this way is because of ignorance. As secularism has increased in the United States so has ignorance about Christianity. In fact, many who claim to be Christian know very little about what they believe or the scriptures behind their faith. In popular culture Christians are depicted as hypocritical, judgmental prudes who don’t practice what they preach. From a Christian perspective this isn’t surprising. This is what happens to every wealthy society. A society that has everything it needs is never satisfied.

We hear all the time about the evils of religion, but it was Christian leaders that stood up against slavery and segregation. It was Christian leaders that led the suffrage movement. It was Christians and churches that helped with the poor and the disadvantaged before the progressive movement pawned it off on the state. Since the New Deal Americans have cared less and less about their fellow man and let someone else do it. Creating a bureaucracy to take care of your neighbor because you don’t want to do it isn’t noble. At some point the nation will find itself both morally and financially bankrupt. It will not be because of Christ.

I’m tired of the rich myth. Two-thirds of the super-rich voted for Obama in the last election. The elite in this nation vote for Democrats. I’m not sure why this myth continues, but two thirds of people who make over $30 million a year voted for Obama in 2008.

I haven’t figured out the Ron Paul people. A lot of them are confused. For example, Ron Paul and Jon Stewart pretty much disagree on every policy issue. Jon Stewart is a liberal even though he tries to convince himself he’s a moderate. Sadly, that’s why viewers like this guy are all over the political map.

I WROTE that twitter because Perry is an idiot. He needs to be bitched slapped back into a reality that separates church & state. He also needs to start treating ALL Americans (not just Christians who agree with his politics) like human beings. That includes gays, women, Jews, Hindus, and Muslims. Not all Texans and Americans think like he does, so not all Texans and Americans should have his beliefs pushed on their lives. Its simple democracy and Perry needs to be bitch slapped back into it in any way possible. Stop printing my twitters without allowing me the chance to defend myself you crazy, irresponsible douche bag. As journalist, you should know better. Shame on you.

Just this week President Obama asked several Christian leaders to come to the White House to pray for a solution to the debt “crisis.” Obama was quoted as saying, “If you don’t pray before you get here, you pray when you get here and that the presidency drives you to your knees. And in the middle of all the crises our country faces that was a moment of, I think, not only reflection but refreshment for everybody in the room.”

Isn’t Obama’s debt crisis prayer a violation of the separation of church and state using Angela Gimlin’s loose interpretation? Obviously, the President is free to express his religion just like every citizen. However, don’t expect people like Gimlin to express the same type of outrage toward Obama as they’ve shown toward Perry. They are hypocrites after all.

What is it about people who can’t carry on a conversation about politics without becoming unhinged? I posted Angela Gimlin’s tweet as an example of a deranged and unhinged liberal. Her comment was more of the same. Angela, you had a chance to defend yourself and you just reinforced my point. Amazing! If you listen to people like Gimlim it’s as if Perry’s very existence is an affront to the Constitution. How do you reason with someone who is unreasonable?

Update: There’s nothing wrong with defending your loved ones, but please check out Jeff Ward’s comments. He’s all over the place. All the ingredients of a bad argument are on display. He has the straw man, the name-calling, and the inability to read first before commenting. He’s a little light on specifics and that’s the problem. It’s not a debate if you can’t fashion a logical argument.

Earlier this week I wrote an open letter to Kathryn Scaglione after stumbling unto her deranged tweets on Twitter. Scaglione’s sprawling response to my open letter actually made my point. Nothing she wrote countered anything in my letter. Instead she called me names and and made odd claims. However, there was one particular thing she wrote that has been cracking me up all week:

So son, I advise ONE thing to do, I dare you to show anything I have ever said, in any of my blogs, to be a lie. I dare you. And I mean something that is stated as a fact, not my opinion. My opinions are based on FACTS, I don’t pass them off as facts, like you’ve done here. If there is one thing I take pride in, is that I am extremely factual. Opinionated, but based on facts. Find ONE thing that is not a FACT. Just one.

Now I’m going to break my one rule here. It’s impossible to have a reasonable debate with someone as unreasonable as Scaglione. However, this is a special case. Plus, it only took a couple of minutes to find a nonsensical opinion on her blog.

Back in January, Scaglione was fixated on the whole Sarah Palin target non-controversy. I pick this topic just because The Daily Plunge wrote about it extensively. Here is Scaglione’s non-factual opinion:

I think the point people are missing is that WE know Sarah Palin did not pull the trigger. We meaning, liberals. We know she didn’t actually kill these innocent people in Tucson. WHY we are so angry with her, and lashing out at her, is because Republicans/Conservatives have been spewing all this hate rhetoric since McCain rolled her out in 2008.

And don’t you DARE say this is on both sides. It most certainly is NOT. No, THAT statement should not be tolerated by any Democrat/Liberal. That type of hate speech does NOT come from the left. It is not the same.IT IS NOT THE SAME.

The hate rhetoric Scaglione is referencing is the target map that was circulated within minutes of the shooting. I first saw the target map posted on Facebook by my progressive leaning friends within an hour of the shooting. Of course, Palin wasn’t the first  politician to use a target map. The list of target maps coming from the left is seemingly endless: Harry Mitchell, the Democratic Leadership Committee, and Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee just to name a few. It’s been a standard practice for decades and it was only deemed extreme when progressives saw Palin use it.

What about hate rhetoric? Joseph Welch has a nice round-up of various statements by Paul Krugman, Ezra Klein, and Markos Moulitsas. Plus, let’s not forget the President of the United States…

Liberals who pretend hate rhetoric doesn’t exist on the left are crazy. It’s like the Bush administration didn’t happen. We had eight years of insane rhetoric, protests, and kill Bush video games. Obviously, Scaglione’s opinion isn’t fact; however, she believes it’s true. It all goes back to President Reagan’s fantastic quote about liberals.

How many past presidents had fathers who weren’t American citizens? Is it really strange that our society of conspiracy theorists wouldn’t have a field day with Obama’s history? The Daily Plunge always thought the birther movement was dumb. However, what about truthers, the JFK assassination, and Bigfoot? Do all conspiracy theories that involve black people automatically equal racism, or those that involve Big Foot, Yeti and the Loch Ness Monster equal Mythical Creature Phobia? When the press was creating “fake but accurate” stories about President Bush’s National Guard service was that racist? In another post from last November Scaglione opines…

Let’s not forget the crowd at that fake rally, or celebration of Stuff White People Like. It was a rally for morons that was held by liberal comedians. This wasn’t a political event. It was a snarky event that had no impact on the election. Liberals aren’t loud enough? Really? Eight years of Bush Derangement Syndrome, war protests, and speaking truth to power wasn’t enough? I’m supposed to take this person seriously as an intellectual, fact-based follower of politics? Really? Reality is not your friend. Scaglione goes on to cite Bill Maher. Yes, that Bill Maher. Is it any wonder Scaglione is politically deranged when she gets her “facts” from people like Maher?

With the epidemic of fake lesbian bloggers I almost wonder if Scaglione’s blog is a parody of the left. When someone becomes this deranged about politics what are facts? There’s no such thing has objective, fact-based analysis, just childish rants. It’s just worn out talking points such as “Sarah Palin said ObamaCare would create Death Panels, it’s a lie and she’s a bitch.” Ah, I see. Although, a very logical argument can be made that rationed health care will lead to some pesky end-of-life decisions made by the state. The state will choose “panels” to make those decisions. Rationed care isn’t wild speculation. Every nation who has implemented socialized medicine eventually rations care. Don’t tell Kathryn Scaglione, she won’t listen anyway.

The most interesting thing about people like Kathryn Scaglione is that they drape themselves in faux tolerance and enlightenment. What you really see is a person full of hate.  She can’t comment on anything without vile language. She lashes out aggressively toward anyone who doesn’t agree with her worldview. Who does this woman really hate? Conservatives? God? It’s nearly impossible to agree on everything with people. Some of my best friends have completely different points of view. I don’t pretend to believe that liberals have sole possession of the crazies like Scaglione, but when only 38% of Democrats claim to have excellent mental health there’s a problem.

What else can explain the hypocrisy of the anti-war movement? What are the facts? Well, the United States is unleashing predator drones all over the place, the War Powers Act is being ignored, and we’re bombing Libya for no other reason than to protect Europe’s oil interests. Where are the angry war protesters? C’mon Kathryn Scaglione, where’s your fact based rage? Apparently you’re either too obsessed with Sarah Palin or you’re too busy watching MSNBC, The Daily Show, or the Real Housewives of New Jersey.

Update: First off, I corrected Scaglione’s name. I had the Twitter handle as the last name. Dumb mistake. In the spirit of open dialog you will find Scaglione’s response to my post is below. I didn’t make any of this up. This is what she really actually wrote. Scaglione can have the last word.

FYI: I watch ALL the Housewives, and if you’re ‘too good’ to understand the unbelievable entertainment in those shows, then you can’t be helped. Reading your piece makes me so honored. I love apocalyptic events. Let’s face it, they’re awesome. Predictions proclaiming the exact date of the end of the world all share one thing in common… They’re always wrong. Obsessing over the end of the world is pointless. Our time on Earth is short, the end of the world will come for me in the next 70 years or so when I die. No one has been able to avoid that fate.

Anyway, Family Radio has news for us all. Judgment Day is coming on May 21, 2011. I’m not sure if judgement begins in Japan and works its way East, but I guess we’ll figure it out on Saturday. Harold Camping wrote a book twenty years ago titled 1994? that predicted judgement day in 1994. Mr. Camping has backed away from that prediction by pointing out the question mark in the title of the book. There’s no question mark this time around. Mr. Camping has put all his chips on the table.

The odd thing is that Camping doesn’t cite any divine revelation. He’s just a student of the Bible. I wonder what Camping’s plan of attack will be on Sunday?

What if May 21 ends and nothing occurs?

The Biblical evidence is too overwhelming and specific to be wrong. Christ’s people can look with great confidence to this date because God promises His “beloved” He will not come upon them as a thief in the night.

God in His mercy has revealed the vital information needed to know the day. Judgment Day on May 21, 2011 will occur because the bible declares it. Anyone whom God has not saved will arrive at that day with no hope for salvation. God warns simply the “door will be shut.”

The evidence is so overwhelming and so specific that no one else has figured this out. Mark Twain once said that ”I’ve seen a heap of trouble in my life, and most of it never came to pass.” I’ve heard a lot about the end of the world, but it never ends on time.

What Harold Camping lacks in web development skills he’s more than made up for with promotion. Family Radio had put up billboards all over the place promoting warning  about Judgement Day.

Where’s the proof, you ask? Mr. Camping has an entire page dedicated to specific days.. Apparently, God maintains a strict calendar. The math that is involved would impress even Louis Farrakhan.

Just before the flood Noah was instructed by God that in seven days the flood would begin (Genesis 7:10-16). Using the language of 2 Peter 3:8 that “a day is as a thousand years,” it is like saying through Noah, who was a preacher (2 Peter 2:5): “mankind has seven days or 7,000 years to escape destruction.” Since 2011 A.D. is precisely 7,000 years after Noah preached, God has given mankind a wonderful proof that Judgment Day will occur in the year 2011. (emphasis added)

Yes! That totally makes sense… well, not really. According to Harold Camping overwhelming evidence equals “it is like saying through Noah.” The evidence amounts to a house of cards built on top of the Sears Tower during a blizzard. The logic is so shallow it’s incomprehensible that Mr. Camping could convince anyone that it’s possible. I can’t wait to hear the story on Sunday. My guess is that he’ll use the excuse that he got the math wrong by a few years.

The first Blogosphere entry I wrote featured a blog by Salah Al-Dien that insisted President Bush was worse than Saddam Hussein. Shortly after my post Salah Al-Dien became Terry Scott and a commenter named Liam Occam (who linked to Al-Dien’s blog) called me out for being an “adolescent author who professes that Jesus Christ is the most important thing in the world.” How dare I! What’s this person’s real name? Terry Scott? Liam Occam? Salah Al-Dien? I have no idea, but the person is obviously a coward, anti-Christian, and willing to believe anything as long as there’s some Jew hating involved.

Anyway, long story. Today I was thinking… What does Terry Scott/Al-Dien/Occam think about the death of Osama bin Laden? Apparently, Scott has a lot of issues about killing the scumbag.

No person should have died in 9-1-1, neither American nor foreign born. For disbelievers of the singular role of Al Qaida in 9-1-1 like myself, the blame for those deaths in NY and elsewhere rests on many souls and not just bin Laden and his followers…

And on and on the insanity goes… It wasn’t a terrorist attack. It was an inside job brought to you by a cast of thousands upon thousands of neocons who aren’t talking about pulling off the biggest conspiracy theory all time.

Mendenhall then went even further and said “We’ll never know what really happened. I just have a hard time believing a plane could take a skyscraper down demolition style.” When he was questioned about his ignorant comments he urged others to “think.” My guess is that the Pittsburgh Steelers will be encouraging Mendenhall to do more “thinking” in the future before he opens is mouth, hopefully on a bench.
