Enviromentalist Gone Wild, White Media, and Time
Sep 2nd
Radical Environmentalist Dies the True Death: By now everyone has heard about the environmentalist who took hostages at Discovery Channel headquarters yesterday. Fortunately, the wacko wasn’t able to kill anyone.
A radical enviornmentalist who took three hostages at the Discovery Channel headquarters while wearing what police may be explosives was shot and killed by officers, police said.
The gunman, identified as James Lee, was killed by police following four hours of negotiations but the hostages are all safe, said Montgomery County Police Chief J. Thomas Manger.
According to James Lee’s manifesto I don’t think he really minds dying for the cause. Lee considered humans disgusting filth. On the bright side, Lee was a huge fan of Al Gore’s inadvertently ironically-titled movie An Inconvenient Truth. I’m sure Lee is just a random crazy who can’t be tied to any ideological viewpoint. Nothing to see here, move on…
America’s Newsrooms are Overwhelmingly White: It’s not news that America’s newsrooms are dominated by white-guilt suffering liberals; however, they would like to remind us that Glenn Beck’s rally was predominately white. Well, what about the fact that the media is predominately white? If it’s good enough for the media, then it’s good enough for those crazy Glenn Beck people.
Freedom Sucks: Governor Deval Patrick wishes it wasn’t a free country. No really! Obviously it’s just a gaffe, right? I’m not so sure the liberal elite in this country actually wish this was a free country. Otherwise they wouldn’t be passing laws trying to control every single aspect of my life.
What’s Time’s Definition of “Clear? Time magazine has a long article entitled “How Barack Obama Became Mr. Unpopular.” As you can imagine, it has nothing to do with his horrible policies and everything to do with angry white males. Here’s just a taste.
One explanation for Obama’s steep decline is that his presidency rests on what Gallup’s Frank Newport calls a “paradox” between Obama and the electorate. In 2008, Newport notes, trust in the federal government was at a historic low, dropping to around 25%, where it still remains. Yet Obama has offered government as the primary solution to most of the nation’s woes, calling for big new investments in health care, education, infrastructure and energy. Some voters bucked at the incongruity, repeatedly telling pollsters that even programs that have clearly helped the economy, like the $787 billion stimulus, did no such thing. Meanwhile, the resulting spike in deficits, which has been greatly magnified by tax revenue lost to the economic downturn, has spooked a broad sweep of the country, which simply does not trust Washington to responsibly handle such a massive liability. [emphasis added]
I guess this is breaking news because it’s not an accepted fact among economists that the so-called stimulus bill “clearly” helped anyone except for a few well-connected cronies. It was a pork-filled corruptocratic mess that added billions to the deficit. This is such a typical slant from the Left. They’re so ensconced in the liberal cocoon they don’t even know the difference between fantasy and fact. In the liberal world the great savior rescued the economy with the stimulus bill. In 2010, this kind of thinking can easily be dismissed as fantasy. In 1934, this kind of thinking convinced an entire generation of economists that you can simply spend your way out of economic calamity.
Does anyone ever wonder why the United States has had only one Great Depression? Isn’t it odd that the United States’ Depression that featured heavy government involvement was also the worst? The United States suffered through many short depressions that didn’t feature government stimulus and recovered within a few years. I’m just sayin’.
Big Crowds, Thin Skin, and Paris Hilton
Aug 30th
Radio Silence: Gauging by the news today it’s difficult to know that a 300,000-person rally even took place in Washington D.C. over the weekend. I guess that means there wasn’t a race riot or some other event for the mainstream press to cover. The story that a peaceful crowd upset with the current course of the federal government just isn’t news during an election year.
Thin Skin Watch: Imagine if President Bush dedicated time to whining about how someone the Left treated him. Say what you will about him, but he never did, nor did any of Obama’s predecessors. I guess they felt it was unbecoming of the office to do so. Of course none of our previous presidents were “community organizers,” whose only job it is to whine. President Obama wants to blame all his problems on someone else and then he’s upset that some people aren’t happy. The press didn’t seem to mind when over 20 percent of Americans thought 9/11 was an inside job. Why am I supposed to be upset that people think he’s Muslim? Has anyone in the press bothered to check out where Obama went to church for decades and question whether or not it should really be defined as “Christian”?
Culture of Corruption Watch: Another Democratic member of Congress has been caught violating rules. Rep. Eddie Bernice Johnson was spreading the wealth around to relatives:
Longtime Dallas congresswoman Eddie Bernice Johnson has awarded thousands of dollars in college scholarships to four relatives and a top aide’s two children since 2005, using foundation funds set aside for black lawmakers’ causes.
The recipients were ineligible under anti-nepotism rules of the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation, which provided the money. And all of the awards violated a foundation requirement that scholarship winners live or study in a caucus member’s district.
Obviously Johnson isn’t to blame. It’s the racist anti-nepotism rules that are at fault, which is why it’s such a good idea to expand the scope and power of a centralized bureaucracy so that the “oppressed” can make sure they and their friends are taken care of. “Social justice” means never having to say your sorry.
Paris Hilton News: The biggest story over the weekend was the Paris Hilton arrest. Miss Hilton’s life is much more important to the average American than what’s going on in Washington D.C. No comment from Camp Hilton about her opinion of the events at the Lincoln Memorial. Oh well, at least Hilton has some idea of international affairs, particularly the complicated nexus between Bogota and Los Angeles.
Free Work, Dancing with Teen Mothers, and Daydream Believers
Aug 26th
Where do I Sign Up: A Community Services Board member in Norfolk, Virgina didn’t show up for work for 12 years and still got salary and benefits. Now that’s change I can believe in. You have to wonder what kind of human being could live with themselves collecting money like that, but look no further than our senior citizens who are collecting much more money than they put in at the expense of future generations.
Dancing with the Stars? Obviously my definition of “stars” is different that other people, especially since I think stars are giant balls of gas that emit light and heat. Bristol Palin, who is only famous because of her mother and the fact she got knocked up, is going to be on the new season of Dancing with the Stars. For those that remember, Miss Palin accused her now former fiance Levi Johnston of being a publicity hound. Hmmm… I have a feeling that she’ll co-star in an epic film with Lindsay Lohan in the next few years.
Head in the Sand: It’s not all doom and gloom Democrats! It looks like Reid Wilson over at Hotline On Call believes the Democrats won’t lose the House. Although I’m not sure his logic is logical:
Beyond advertising, money pays for turnout operations, another area in which Democrats have a clear advantage. The Democratic National Committee has pledged $30 million in cash and services to turn out the estimated 15 million voters who cast their first ballots for President Obama in 2008, and the DCCC has put an average of five field staffers on the ground in 75 districts.
This sounds a lot like what I heard during the 2006 election. The Republicans had a lot of money and a superior turnout operation, but ultimately lost the House. The GOP was missing the most crucial thing in an election: enthusiastic voters. 1,255,470 votes were cast in the uncontested Florida GOP Senate primary. There were 912,044 voters in the contested Democratic Senate primary. That’s hardly a reassuring if you’re a member of the Democratic party or Charlie Crist. Florida is a battleground state and the Democrats are staying at home and the Republicans are fired up.
Who is Michael Enright? James Taranto over at Best of the Web has an in-depth look at the history of the supposed Islamophobe Michael Enright, around whom the press is rallying as it always does when they think they’ve finally found a real “hate crime.” Taranto’s conclusions shouldn’t be shocking for those who aren’t caught up in the sensationalist news cycle. For whatever reason, Enright’s association with the pro-mosque left isn’t making headlines. You know what else isn’t making headlines? I’ve lost count of the number of attacks on innocent civilians in the United States by Muslims; however, no one is going around trying to say all Muslims are Americanophones…. or whatever. But perpetrate a hate crime against yourself or pretend you’re a racist right-winger to prove your own leftist politically-correct psychosis and the media reports it as fact in 82-point type on the front page. Then, when the truth comes out, it’s buried on page A-75 in 2-point type, if at all.
James Cameron, Leadership Void, and Cutting Handouts
Aug 24th
Scumbag News: I’m not sure how I missed this yesterday when I was talking about James Cameron’s Avatar. Wow, Cameron is a jackass. After calling the theory of Global Warming the greatest threat to the United States since World War II he challenged deniers to a “debate.” At the very last minute Cameron backed out. You have to love cowards like Cameron. The day he avoids debate he calls climate change skeptics swine.
James Cameron doesn’t mince words when talking about people who are skeptical that humans are causing global warming. “I think they’re swine,” the renowned filmmaker told an audience member Sunday on the final day of the American Renewable Energy Day summit in Aspen.
Just before saying that, Cameron received a standing ovation for a short documentary he screened about a coalition of people he joined who are opposed to a massive hydropower project in Brazil that would displace a large tribal community there. It was during a series of talks Sunday about the strong effect the right-wing punditry — Cameron named the regulars: Glenn Beck, Sean Hannity and Rush Limbaugh, who are known for their sharp attacks on environmentalists — has on Americans.
It’s obvious all these brain-dead liberals read from the same playbook. Avoid debate, call the opposition names, and then cite Beck, Hannity and Limbaugh. This might work in the bizzaro world of MSNBCland, but it makes people like James Cameron appear to be out-of-touch wackos. As talk-show host Dennis Prager puts it: “Some of us worry about a resurgent Islam and its attendant complications for a decayed Western civilization; some of us worry about global warming. In twenty years’ time, one of us will be proved right and the other will look like an idiot.”
The Alternative: The Democrats are facing a bloodbath at the polls in November and the strong possibility that the next Speaker of the House will be John Boehner. Boehner gave a speech today demanding that President Obama fire his economic advisers. Yay… that will surely change the direction of the current economy. I’m sorry; this type of purely political drivel doesn’t do anything to reassure me that Republicans have a clue.
What ideas does Boehner have to offer? The short answer is nothing. Supposedly the House Republicans will release some kind of agenda in late September. Instead of Speaker Boehner I like the sound of Speaker Ryan. You know, someone with some good ideas.
Florida Primary: Today is primary day here in the Sunshine State. Governor Crist isn’t on the ballot today, but it appears Democratic Senatorial candidate Kendrick B. Meek is going to win the nomination. This should kill Crist’s chances. Crist can only win the election if he siphons tons of votes from the Democratic candidate. That’s not likely to happen with Meek. I was going to skip this election, but there are a couple of local ballot initiatives that I need to vote against.
What Handouts to Cut: Economist Walter Williams wrote an article a couple of weeks ago that I failed to mention. He offers a sobering look at our current entitlement mess. The only way we can get out from under the enormous debt burden is to change social security.
We can start getting the federal spending under control by ending subsidies to people with high net worth that can be ready turned into cash such as a home or business. While seniors might say that they support reduced government spending, they, like other handout recipients, believe they have a right, through government, to live at the expense of others. What’s more, they have considerable clout — they vote in large numbers. Only 50 percent of young people vote, but up to 70 percent of seniors vote.
Recently I ran into this “entitlement mentality” in my own family. A person who probably votes Republican had no problem telling everyone who would listen, “Obama is going raise my retirement age.” Oh, whoa is me! People just can’t wait to ride the gravy train. Social Security is the biggest ponzi scheme ever perpetrated on the American public. Man it sucks to be on the bottom of the pyramid.
More on Mitch, Taxes, Hollywood
Aug 23rd
The Right Stuff: The Economist picks up where I left off last week with a puff piece on Indiana governor Mitch Daniels. The article sheds some light on Daniels’ positions and challenges ahead if he wants to run for President.
More problematic, it is unclear that a clever, measured candidate stands a chance within the Republican Party. Neo-cons are allergic to talk of defence cuts. Social conservatives were rabid after Mr Daniels, anti-abortion himself, told the Weekly Standard that he favoured a temporary truce on social issues. “It just happens to be what I think,” he says, arguing that politicians need to unite on urgent matters of national security and debt. He is also unlikely to fire up tea-partiers. “Didn’t somebody say in a different context, ‘Anger is not a strategy’?” he asked your correspondent over a rare plate of steak and chips.
This attitude is refreshing, but I think The Economist is right.
Time to Raise Taxes: What’s the difference between institutional Democrats and Republicans? I’m not so sure, but both groups seem primed to raise taxes because they’re incapable of reducing the size of government. Veronique de Rugy at The Corner discusses this problem.
Even the Republicans, as a party, haven’t come out with a list of things, a list of agencies or programs, to cut. We shouldn’t consider raising taxes until we have cut spending, which shouldn’t be that hard with a $3.8 trillion budget (roughly $1.8 trillion larger than in FY 2000). Are we claiming that this $1.8 trillion increase since 2000 all went to indispensable programs that should never be cut?
Avatar: Special Edition: Didn’t catch Avatar the first time around? Well, James Cameron’s visually stunning but ultimately boring movie is being re-released. I can’t imagine sitting through it again. The special effects were amazing, but this movie will be largely forgotten in ten years. The story just isn’t compelling. Save your money and catch Pocahontas on the Disney Channel sometime instead.
The Breaking Point: You know a story has reached its full saturation point when a political science expert like Roger Ebert takes time to write about the Ground Zero Mosque. He takes time to rip Rush Limbaugh, Sarah Palin, and Glenn Beck while at the same time citing Mein Kampf. Can Ebert just stick to reviewing movies? Oh, wait… he’s not even good at that either.
Capital Punishment: Typically, Hollywood liberals are opposed to the death penalty. The movie, The Life of David Gale is a fine example. Well, actually it’s not a good example. The idiots that put that film together were obviously anti-capital punishment, but the move actually made me wish David Gale was executed earlier in the movie. Anyway, I digress. It appears Brad Pitt is now in favor of capital punishment… for those responsible for the oil spill.
Actor Brad Pitt, whose Make it Right project has spearheaded efforts to build 150 affordable and sustainable homes in the Big Easy’s hard-hit Lower Ninth Ward, is prominently featured. Reflecting on those responsible for the oil spill, Pitt can barely contain his contempt.
“I was never for the death penalty before,” he says. “I am willing to look at it again.”
There simply isn’t enough intelligence in the world to cure Pitt’s idiocy. With all due respect, can we put Pitt to death for Legends of the Fall?
Radioactive Boars, Cross-eyed Kids and the World’s Craziest Dumbass
Aug 19th

Jill Greenberg takes candy from a baby. Either that or this kid saw a picture of a cross-eyed kid. Or, he's cross-eyed. Then again, it's most likely he's reminiscing about the Bush years. Poor baby!
Radioactive Boars: In the hit video game, Fallout 2, one quest involves clubbing a handful of radioactive boars to death. Well, the number of radioactive boars is on the rise in Germany, so let the clubbing begin! What’s causing this to happen? Well, isn’t it obvious? Climate Change is to blame:
Central Europe is turning into a land of plenty for the animals, as warmer weather causes beech and oak trees to overproduce seeds and farmers to grow more crops the boars like to feast on such as corn… said Torsten Reinwald of the German Hunting Federation.
“The number of boars in Germany has quadrupled or quintupled over the last years, as has the number of boars shot,” Reinwald said, adding that other countries like France and Poland are seeing a similar proliferation of boars.
Where do you begin? I might blame Chernobyl and the lack of proper hunting for this problem; however, there’s nothing Climate Change can’t do, except be beneficial. You know what causes Climate Change? One guess, and it’s not the burning orb in the sky that accounts for most of the mass of the entire solar system.
Being Cross-eyed is Not Good: Swiss researchers have made a breakthrough. Children whose eyes cross are more likely to be rejected than kids who have normal eyes. I hope you were sitting down for that one. I know… I’m as shocked as everyone else. How did they do this study? I’m glad you asked…
They asked 118 children, aged 3 to 12 years, to look at these altered photos as well as the unaltered pictures of the children with normally aligned eyes and select whom they would invite to their birthday party.
This is absolutely brutal stuff. From the mouth of babes and whatnot. This is almost as bad as Jill Greenberg taking candy from small children, making them cry, and then blaming it on the Bush administration. But at least she doesn’t shop at Wal-Mart, where all the cross-eyed people shop.
The Craziest Dumbass in the World: That’s right! Meet Nancy Pelosi! She’s going to get to the bottom of who’s “behind” the opposition to the Ground Zero Mosque, as it’s become known as:
“There is no question there is a concerted effort to make this a political issue by some. And I join those who have called for looking into how is this opposition to the mosque being funded,” she said. “How is this being ginned up… as we go forward to an election about the future of our country and two of the first three questions are about a zoning issue in New York City.”
Thank God Nancy Pelosi is there to make sure that any time there’s opposition to anything there’s no conspiracy behind said opposition. What will she and her entirely scrupulous team of Congressional sleuths find? Is it the Mafia? Anti-Castro Cubans? The military-industrial complex? Elvis? Bigfoot? Aliens?
Okay. Let’s see who’s “behind” Pelosi, ginning up support for her Congressional elections. Oh, surprise! The top three are large law firms. That’s odd. I’ve always wondered why there was no reform in the health-care “reform” bill Pelosi pushed through Congress.
Bring Back Bush, ObamaCare and Approval Ratings
Aug 18th
Remember the Good Old Days: Now that the President has opened his mouth and inserted his foot therein about the NYC Ground Zero Mosque, it’s up to our liberal friends in the press to clean up the mess. That means we get to read nostalgic memories of President Bush. No really!
“It’s time for W. to weigh in,” writes the New York Times’ Maureen Dowd. Bush, Dowd explains, understands that “you can’t have an effective war against the terrorists if it is a war on Islam.” Dowd finds it “odd” that Obama seems less sure on that matter. But to set things back on the right course, she says, “W. needs to get his bullhorn back out” — a reference to Bush’s famous “the people who knocked these buildings down will hear all of us soon!” speech at Ground Zero on September 14, 2001.
Washington Post columnist Eugene Robinson is also looking for an assist from Bush. “I…would love to hear from former President Bush on this issue,” Robinson wrote Tuesday in a Post chat session. “He held Ramadan iftar dinners in the White House as part of a much broader effort to show that our fight against the al-Qaeda murderers who attacked us on 9/11 was not a crusade against Islam. He was absolutely right on this point, and it would be helpful to hear his views.”
Racism in New York, Gatekeepers, Fear, and Time
Aug 16th
Blame Arizona: When eight young black men violently beat up a Hispanic man for no apparent reason, leave it the Associated Press to speculate. What could possibly be the reason for the violence?
Residents of Port Richmond – where an influx of newcomers from Latin America over the past decade has transformed the community – alternately blame the attacks on the economy, unemployment and the debate over Arizona’s immigration law.
And although most of the suspects were described as young black men and investigated for bias crimes, a grand jury has indicted only one of seven people arrested on a hate-crime charge.
Just for a minute let’s imagine if a group of white men beat up a black man. Would the Associated Press write:
Residents of Port Richmond – where an influx of newcomers from Africa over the past decade has transformed the community – alternately blame the attacks on the economy, unemployment and the debate over Affirmative Action.
That would be an outrageous excuse for this type of violent behavior. There’s simply no excuse for this when it happens. Why is it happening? If you look at the history of civilization, newcomers are always greeted unfavorably by the locals. These black men are simply passing on the same ignorant prejudices that greeted the Irish, German, Catholic, Chinese, and Jewish immigrants that first came to America. In other words, they’re racists.
Gatekeeper Watch: Even TechCruch has succumbed to publishing articles discussing the decline of the mainstream media gatekeepers. Jon Orlin complains that hoaxes are more problematic today because the mainstream media isn’t there to protect us any longer.
This past week, formerly unknown actress Elyse Porterfield fooled millions playing Jenny, the fired Dry Erase girl, in a clever hoax. Right now, I guarantee other pranksters are dreaming up new schemes to fool you again. And journalists, who at one time were tasked with protecting the public from such lies, no longer have the same power to block them.
Club Soda has covered this meme well in the past. I wish I could get a nickel for every time I read an article like this. Liberals liked the status quo because they published nonsense for generations and no one could do anything about it. The reason Rush Limbaugh is so popular is because in 1990 the entire press was dominated by the Left. Limbaugh was the only easily accessed source for a conservative viewpoint.
Other than John Stossel, who is doing real investigative journalism about the inefficiencies of the government? The press isn’t interested in anything except faux objective reporting. “Objective reporting” does nothing except further the agenda of Democrats. That’s why, just like you can always find a cop at a donut shop, there’s sure to be a “journalist” at the proverbial Kinko’s fabricating the next “fake-but-accurate” news story.
Don’t Give into Fear: After using fear to sell the stimulus bill, ObamaCare, financial regulation, and cap and trade President Obama is now urging Americans who will listen to “don’t give into fear.” Then he proceeded to scare people.
On Monday, he warned of reliving a dreadful past, saying Republicans want voters “to be afraid of the future.” “The worst thing we could do is to go back to the very same policies that created this mess in the first place,” Obama said at a fundraiser in Wisconsin. “In November, you’re going to have that choice.”
If we could only relive the dreadful past of 5% unemployment.
Good-bye Cathy: This is probably the greatest news ever. The reign of terror sometimes known as the comic strip Cathy is finally over.
Cathy Guisewite, the strip’s creator, announced on Wednesday that she is ending the popular cartoon’s run, The Associated Press reported. Ms. Guisewite, 59, said that the autobiographical strip has been “the most astonishing form of therapy,” but that her “creative biological clock” was ticking, and she wants to try something else — although isn’t sure what.
Have you ever noticed that the greatest comic strips always end too soon and the mediocre ones live forever? Here’s hoping Pearls Before Swine and Get Fuzzy have a few more great years ahead.
Way Too Early Poll: A poll in Iowa shows former Governor Mike Huckabee leading all other hopefuls. Gulp! There’s not enough Maker’s Mark in the world to wash that pain away.
Time is on Obama’s Side: It’s been known for a while that Time magazine is basically another branch of the White House. The “newsmagazine’s” bias has been on display for a long time, but its ass-kissing has reached an all-time low. When Mark Halperin writes an article entitled, “Obama’s Islamic-Center Stance: Why the GOP Shouldn’t Run Against It,” you can rest assured that the GOP should take the opposite advice.
Milton Friedman, Hate Speech at the Lincoln Memorial, and Non-Saints
Aug 12th
Textbook Economics: The idiots were warned. We tried to tell them raising the minimum wage was pointless. It doesn’t help the poor. It only devastates young people who are trying to get jobs. It should be no surprise that youth unemployment has hit a record high. I hope all those “progressives” feel better. The only thing they accomplished is helping unions. Milton Friedman talked about this very issue decades ago. Friedman is gone, but he’s still right.
Content-neutral: Two months ago students from the Young America’s Foundation were told to shut up when they started an impromptu version of the National Anthem at the Lincoln Memorial. Evidently the harsh rhetoric of our nation’s National Anthem is offensive to someone. This is another great moment for our United States Park Police.
He’s No Saint: CNN has an article by Ed Henry on the late Senator Ted Stevens who passed away in an airplane crash earlier this week. The headline of the article is “Stevens was no saint but his word was his bond.” Fair enough, but where was this kind of somber analysis of the late Senator Ted Kennedy? If Stevens wasn’t a saint what was Kennedy? Or did Stevens get drunk, drive off the road, and flee the scene with someone drowning in the car as well?
I’m headed up to Atlanta tomorrow to watch the Braves in the post-Chipper era. The Braves third baseman injured himself on a throw to first base a couple of days ago. His ACL requires surgery so it’s possible this is the end of the road for Chipper. We’ll catch two games against the Dodgers and drive back on Sunday.
Section 8 Mob, Racist Reid, UGA and Duke Nukem
Aug 11th
Bread and Circuses: 30,000 people lined up for Section 8 housing application in East Point, Georgia today. The chance to receive a government-subsided apartment is a bigger draw in Atlanta than the Tampa Bay Rays baseball team. It’s comforting to know that there are so many people ready to take a hand out
The massive event sometimes descended into a chaotic mob scene filled with anger and impatience. Some 62 people needed medical attention and 20 of them were transported to a hospital, authorities said. A baby went into a seizure in the heat and was stabilized at a hospital. People were removed on stretchers and when a throng of people who had been waiting hours in a line were told to move to another line, people started pushing, shoving and cursing, witnesses said.
You would be hard pressed to find any event that symbolizes Atlanta better than this angry mob. The best part of the this story is that East Point officials declared the event a success. I’m not sure if the officials are completely clueless or that they set their expectations so low that 62 people who needed medical attention is a success. At least no one was shot.
Harry Reid’s Race Obsession: The left’s obsession with racism is diabolical. Illegal immigration is not a race issue. The only people bringing up race into this debate are Democrats like Harry Reid who view illegal immigrants and Hispanics as a potential voting bloc.
U.S. Sen. Harry Reid on Tuesday slammed Republicans for blocking comprehensive immigration reform and told Hispanics they shouldn’t be treated differently because “their skin’s a tone darker” than that of America’s early European immigrants. “I don’t know how anyone of Hispanic heritage could be a Republican, OK,” Reid said, speaking to Latino supporters whose votes he needs to win re-election in November. “Do I need to say more?”
This type of divisive and ignorant rhetoric needs to come to an end. It’s not constructive; it’s ugly and it represents the worst about politics. Democrats don’t seem to have anything else to offer besides characterizing everyone who disagrees with their politics as racists. This comes after four years of corruption, failed policies, and broken promises.
College Football Polls! It’s silly season again. It’s that time of the year when polls are out that rank college football teams based on what they accomplished last season with different players. College Football News came out with their top five on Monday and Georgia is 3rd! What? Yeah, the Dawgs will start the season around 20 in the two most important polls, but it’s nice see someone thinks they’re a sleeper team. Plus, College Football News is a pretty popular site. I’ve been reading it for almost a decade and they’re usually pretty good with predictions. That means UGA will likely lose four games.
Duke Nukem FOREVER: There are video game classics like Doom, Civilization, and Super Mario Brothers. These games are classics due to their overwhelming popularity. Then there’s Duke Nukem Forever. This game has been in development since 1997. No game has been delayed, restarted and funded more than Duke Nukem Forever. Like the city of Houston, the game is synonymous with futility. Last year it appeared that game had finally died, but it appears that it’s still alive:
Oh boy, another Duke Nukem story. It seems that the lawsuit between 3D Realms and Take 2 has been settled, and now Duke Nukem Forever is in the capable hands of Gearbox, developer of Borderlands and the Brothers In Arms series. The question is: who could possibly care? Consider my predicament. I’ve heard about Duke Nukem Forever since 1997, when I first read about it in a game magazine. (Ultra Game Players, I believe.) How can I possibly care about the game in 2010, or 2011, or 2012?
They should just abandon the game altogether and work on a movie about the making of the game. I’m sure a movie would be 100% more interesting than any game that comes out at this point.
