ObamaCare: It seems like years ago when the Democrats passed one of the worst pieces of legislation in American history. Thanks to the evil Democrats the American taxpayer will be funding abortions. Remember when Stupak famously caved thanks to an Obama executive order? The pro-death left dismissed pro-life fears as paranoia. However, we should know better. Whenever you hear the words “let me be clear” be prepared to get the exact opposite of what is said.

Mandate equals tax: The dishonesty of the White House is becoming comical. When it was politically beneficial the White House claimed the ObamaCare mandate wasn’t a tax. My, how times have changed. The President told George Snuffaluffagus Stephanopoulos, “You can’t just make up that language and decide that that’s called a tax increase.” Or, you can, and that’s the way the White House is going to sell its unconstitutional bill to the courts. Let me be clear… The most transparent administration in the history of our great nation is also the most opaque. I’ll let you figure this paradox out on your own, because I can’t.

Inception: I saw the best movie of the year on Friday. Christopher Nolan’s Inception is the most original movie this year and by far the most entertaining. It also contains the best action sequence I’ve seen in a film since the Matrix. Did I mention it’s rated PG-13 and fairly family friendly? The only problem with the film are the petrol-guzzling, jet-setting, tire-burning, I-can-have-mine-but-you-can’t-have-yours stars, but most conservatives have learned to separate willfully ignorant artists from their work. Unfortunately, the willfully ignorant have a very hard time keeping their willful ignorance to themselves, just as Narcissus had a very difficult time taking his eyes off himself.

Gulf Oil Spill: It looks like the spill might finally be contained. The fallout, though, is going to play out for a significant amount of time. I don’t want to subscribe to any conspiracy theories, but it appears there’s been some kind of cap on the media coverage of the effected areas. I guess the devastation is too much for the American people. That didn’t seem to be the media’ philosophy when covering Katrina or Iraq, but who am I to complain? Plus, I’m too busy glued to TMZ and the latest on Lindsay Lohan to really notice. Apparently, she’s pretty “freaked out” about going to jail for 90 days. Don’t bend over for the soap, Lindsay!

Humanitarian Shopping Crisis: Speaking of lazy journalists, here are some images that western media outlets will not show in Gaza. Gauging by the images it sure doesn’t look that bad. I wonder how all those supplies are making their way into the the Hamas-controlled state? I’m sure human-rights activists like Jimmy Carter are all over this one since it looks like the Jews are allowing only three different colors of balloons into Gaza.

Finally, I can’t wait for the movie The Politician. The Aaron Sorkin project will be about the rise and spectacular fall of John Edwards (who, by the way, is a Democrat). I’ll be interested in how they spin one of the worst politicians to come around the past couple of decades. Something tells me it will be a re-telling of that classic tale, The Jerk…

That’s right. There’s not one good thing you can say about a party committed to making taxpayers pay for the most divisive issue in the nation since slavery.

The party of “choice” doesn’t believe Americans should have a choice on guns, education or health care. The only real choice the left believes in is letting the State choose what to do with our lives.

There’s no new ground to make on abortion so I’m not going to delve into that topic; however, everyone agrees it’s a passionate subject. The American taxpayer shouldn’t have to pay for the procedure, but the Democrats have other ideas. If ObamaCare passes every Democrat running for election in a non-gerrymandered district is going to answer for this travesty.

According to a poll by Zogby 70% of Americans are against taxpayer-funded abortion. Republicans will be using this in elections for the next four years. What will the Democrats have to show for this partisan bill if they win? Obama has already endorsed infanticide, so I’m sure he’s not concerned, but the prospects for his reelection and his party are getting worse every day.

Win or lose the President has lost face during the health care debate. In a year of economic woe the President has been on a crusade to strengthen the grip of government on the citizens through a health care takeover. With an approving nod he has sat and watched his party make backroom deals and shut out the minority. This is the President and party that promised transparency. This is the president that opposed a “50-plus-one approach to governance.” Wow, how whatever happened to Hope and Change? Now with health care in its eleventh hour President Obama has supposedly made his last ditch pitch to pass a bill, a bill that everyone agrees is terrible.

President Barack Obama urged Congress Wednesday to vote “up or down” on sweeping health care legislation in the next few weeks, endorsing a plan that denies Senate Republicans the right to kill the bill by stalling with a filibuster. “I don’t see how another year of negotiations would help. Moreover, the insurance companies aren’t starting over,” Obama said, rejecting Republican calls to begin anew on an effort to remake the health care system.

There’s a real chance a bipartisan reform could pass, but the President is too “progressive” and too partisan for it to ever happen. Obama loves to remind everyone the “he won” the election and “his time doesn’t count.” People used to called this type of behavior by Bush as arrogant. What is it when Obama does it? Obama’s idea of bipartisanship is to shut up and agree with the White House. If Obama doesn’t change his attitude the American people won’t forget come 2012. Americans are growing tired of the arrogant faux intellectual who promised to be president of the United States, not only the progressive left.

The Obama administration has been a godsend for unions. The Economist has an article about unions that sheds light on the type of job creation Obama intends to inflict on the nation. Obama and his socialist union allies would like to create 4 million union jobs. Why not? More union members equals more democrat voters? Why should Americans care? Well, unions cost more, do less, and do it worse than the private sector.

His [Obama] biggest favour has been green, foldable and borrowed. For example, he encourages the use of “Project Labour Agreements” on big federal construction projects, whereby contractors must recruit through a union hiring hall. Such agreements inflate costs by 12-18%, according to David Tuerck of Suffolk University, and were banned under Mr Bush. Even where PLAs are not in force, federal contractors are obliged to pay “prevailing” wages. That actually means something close to the union rates, which is nice for the workers in question but means that taxpayers get fewer roads and schools for their money.

Do prices even matter the way Obama is spending money? Unions are certainly less influential in the U.S. than in Europe. That’s a good thing; however, more than half of union members currently work for the government. Is it really surprising that unions support the party of state control? Is it surprising that Mr. Transparency is scratching the back of the Democrat voting bloc?

Increasing the strength and numbers of unions is not a good idea. Look at the problems in Greece. Look at the how the teachers unions in the United States are damaging eduction. There’s a growing movement among the crazy anti-Walmart crowd to unionize the place. Such a move would simply bleed the company dry and another company would take its place. I guess as long as Target and IKEA aren’t effected no one will mind.

It appears that the White House is ready to double down on dumb. While President Obama wants any kind of health care bill to sign I’m not sure he has the votes. 18 Democrats in the Senate are on the record saying they’re opposed to reconciliation, but politicians hardly ever keep their word. The big question is will the House pass the Senate version of the bill? I’m just not sure.

Meanwhile, the President’s approval ratings are continuing to sink. Now that he wants to ram through a very unpopular bill using a rarely used parliamentary tactic I expect his ratings to plummet even more. It appears Barack Obama has his earmuffs on and he doesn’t care what the American people think.

Government work is good if you can get it. Carpe Diem has a nice looking graph that shows that government employees makes 45% more on average than private sector employees.

As I was saying a few days ago. There’s a lot of fat in government than can be cut but no one in Washington is serious about it. I’m not exactly sure what the President is doing. I’m starting to fear that Obama is just completely in over his head. Presidents can either lead or they can’t. For all their faults Bush and Clinton were able to get things done. Americans are growing weary of Obama’s long speeches and inability to accomplish anything popular.

Obama’s biggest problem is that his ideas are not popular. The President must realize that he was elected because people were fed up with Bush, not because we were ready for big government solutions. Many on the left haven’t learned this lesson. Have the Republicans learned anything after being tossed out? I won’t hold my breath.

I was reading an article this morning with the headline, “Iran will deliver telling blow to global powers on Feb. 11.” President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is up to his typical self-contradictory rhetoric. It’s odd to see a man who squashes the will of his own people talk about human dignity:
“If the Islamic Revolution had not occurred, liberalism and Marxism would have crushed all human dignity in their power-seeking and money-grubbing claws. Nothing would have remained of human and spiritual principles,” he said.
It wasn’t really the article itself that grabbed my attention, though; it was the comments. Here are the greatest hits from the comments section:

Please Please Please tell me u have a nuke with Isreals name on it…..that would be the best christmas valintine new years birthday present for the WHOLE WORLD!!!!!!!Go Iran Go Iran Go Iran

Imagine what BUSH, BLAIR and OBAMA have done to America and the World by their Lies and Invading country after country to divert the attention of Americans and the entire world from most important issues and problems. Because of Bush, Blair and Obama millions of Americans who have no jobs are suffering badly and country is moving towards complete economical collapse.

Ahmadinejad is an honorable, honest, and intelligent man. I an Iranian and live in USA. I have heard all of his speeches at UN and US in Cspan, He did not say any derogatory statement to what 60 Minutes and the rest of Zionist / corporate media has reported

Corporate media. Jewish conspiracy. Nuking Israel. Most of this just sums up what Club Soda wrote a few days ago. One man’s Zionist corporate media is another man’s rant against Rupert Murdoch’s Fox. For Iranian Americans who love Ahmadinejad we should make special arrangements to let them move back to Iran. Evidently, working under the yoke of American freedom and liberty is too much. The United States would rather treat every citizen as a potential terrorist in fear of alienating someone. Everything else being equal, which country would you want to live in? Iran or the United States?

When my family contemplates a spending freeze we quit spending money. When Obama asks for a spending freeze what does it really mean? This is the President who spent trillions in his first year in office. This measly “freeze” is going to save $15 billion. At this rate, sometime around August 2076 the federal government will pay back the first trillion dollars. For those scoring at home the Federal Debt is approximately $12 trillion. It will take almost 800 years to pay off the debt by saving $15 billion a year.
The President will try to make up some new taxes to add to the $15 billion a year. Thanks to the Bush administration pretty much only working people are paying taxes. Heck, even people who aren’t paying taxes got some kind of rebate. Obama wants to tax banks because everyone hates banks. Plus, most people are too stupid to realize that the banks will only pass the tax on to loan consumers.
Obama’s biggest hurdle in getting reelected in 2012 is the economy. If the President decides to tax banks and crack down on Wall Street the investor class will stop investing. Perhaps the President is too much of a naïve ideologue to grasp how the economy works. If this is the case this presidency is headed for catastrophe.
I said a few days ago Obama would move to the center. The “spending freeze” is the first attempt to do so. Will Americans really be convinced that this is a step in the right direction?

Why is President Obama struggling? This is the question many liberals are asking these days, but the answer really isn’t that hard. Those who didn’t buy into Obama-maina knew this President could have problems. Jim Geraghty at the Campaign Spot sums it up very nicely:

Look, conservatives spent much of 2007 and 2008 arguing that Obama was a pleasant, charismatic man with few legislative accomplishments, no experience as a manager, few concrete results in any area he had worked, some naive beliefs hidden by extraordinary eloquence, and no idea of just how hard the job of the presidency is. He underestimated the intractibility of certain problems (Middle East peace), wildly overestimated the effectiveness and efficiency of government programs (stimulus spending), had a bad eye for talent (Biden, Geithner, Richardson, Daschle, Napolitano), often had bad first instincts (“I can no more disown him than I can my white grandmother”), seemed to trust those who didn’t deserve it (Iran) and had sailed along in the world of politics because up until now, everyone was inclined to give him the benefit of the doubt.

A few nights ago Chris Matthews talked about how President Johnson made things happen in Congress. The left wants Obama to do the same thing but Johnson had been a member of Congress for twenty years. Obama doesn’t have any experience. This White House is flying by the seat of its pants.

As I’ve stated in the past I’m not a a big viewer of cable news. There are drawbacks to this strategy. I miss out on the media saturation of topics like natural disasters, pop stars, and hot political topics. However, I did watch MSNBC last night because I wanted to see how the holy trinity of Maddow, Matthews, and Olbermann took the loss.
Olbermann was his usually smug and bitter self. Why did Brown win? Well Massachusetts is evidently full of a bunch of racists who don’t like Obama.

Driving a pick-up truck is now racist? I’m starting to wonder about this whole racist thing. I’ve never looked a pick up truck and thought to myself, “Man, that Chevy truck represents white power.” Maybe I’m in the minority. I’ve never been a big fan of pick up trucks, but there’s something very Americana about the pick-up truck. Perhaps, that’s the problem. Many on the left hate the history of the United States so much that any link to the past is racist.
The vinyl record: racist. The nuclear bomb: racist. The Ford Model T: racist. The list is endless. I don’t mean to downplay racism, but Obama is still popular. His approval ratings aren’t great, but most Americans generally like the President; however, most Americans don’t like his policies. During the 2008 election no one paid attention to Obama’s policies. He was the Democrat nominee, that’s all it was going to take to win. Americans are suffering from buyer’s remorse.
The Obama Show was a hit from the start, but the show is starting to lose viewers. The meat behind the grand speeches means more government, higher taxes, and less freedom. The average voter is appalled by the backroom deals. Obama promised transparency. The average voter is appalled by partisanship. Obama blames Bush for everything. There’s nothing racist about disagreeing with the President.
