Hot Air has this lovely video of an angry liberal at Washington, D.C. Mayor Vincent Gray’s press conference announcing his opposition to the restart of the DC Opportunity Scholarship Program. Why are liberals so adamantly opposed to school choice? A zealous devotion to ideology? Derangement? Fierce loyalty to unions? Here’s the video of the nameless coward who repeatedly calls Washington Times reporter Kerry Picket biased for asking tough questions.

Drop dead! So much for the new civility. For those scoring at home the man says “bias” nine times. He can’t even form a logical sentence. It’s all jargon. He even uses the phrase “right-wing fanatic.” I can only assume he’s a member of a teacher’s union. No logical person could object to this program in DC. Liberals like this guy will only be happy when everyone he disagrees with is silenced. Haliburton. Dick Cheney. Bush Lied, Kids Died. Blood for Oil. Neocon. Fundamentalist Wacko. Teabagger. Theocracy. Intolerant. Homophobe. Racist. Nazi. Hitler.
Taste the Savings: It appears that the huge cuts everyone has been boasting about the past few days weren’t all that huge after all (I’m sorry, but shaving $38 billion dollars off a multi-trillion dollar debt is farcical).
“[T]he cuts that actually will make it into law are far tamer, including cuts to earmarks, unspent census money, leftover federal construction funding, and $2.5 billion from the most recent renewal of highway programs that can’t be spent because of restrictions set by other legislation.”
Hot Air has all the details, but I warn you… If you’re depressed about the current fiscal mess news like this isn’t going to make you feel any better. Keep in mind, Democrats are still angry that these cuts are too extreme.
The End is Trump: Some polls are showing that Trump is outpolling people like Huckabee and Romney. This says less about Trump and more about the current GOP field. No sweat though… if Trump doesn’t get the GOP nomination he’ll run as an independent. Is it too late for Charlie Crist to get in the race?
We’re on the Road to Nowhere: You really can’t make this stuff up. During Charlie Crist’s nonsensical run for Senate in Florida his campaign used Talking Heads’ song Road to Nowhere without the permission of David Byrne. Well, it’s all settled now. Part of the settlement is this glorious apology by Crist posted on YouTube for the win!
How awesome is that that Crist used the song Road to Nowhere? Is there any better song that represents his political prospects?
Tim Pawlenty has a YouTube video out for his new book, Courage to Stand. I would have called it Courage to Read because who is going to waste their time to read a book by Tim Pawlenty? The video is beyond parody.
I’m sorry Pawlenty, just give it up. You don’t have what it takes to be President. Hot Air calls the video “the motion picture event of a lifetime.” America is great, we get it. What makes Pawlenty great? Now, that’s a better question. I don’t want to read a book to find out.
I think this will be my last post about this issue, but here we are four days from the tragedy in Arizona and there’s nothing really left to know about Jared Loughner. His motives have been endlessly dissected and there are zero ties to any right-wing ideology. That doesn’t stop Newsweek from running this:
The Missed Warning Signs
A 2009 study warned that the rise of right-wing extremism could spur violent attacks. But the report was attacked by Republicans, including now-Speaker John Boehner.
Two years before the Tucson massacre, the Department of Homeland Security warned in a report that right-wing extremism was on the rise and could prompt “lone wolves” to launch attacks. But the agency backed away from the report amid intense criticism from Republicans, including future House Speaker John Boehner.
Huh? Does Newsweek exist in some parallel universe where Jared Loughner is Sarah Palin’s husband? Hot Air is all over this 20 paragraph article, but don’t be too upset. The author gets to the part about there being no connection to the right in paragraph 19. Newsweek took the train to Crazytown a long time about, but it’s still unbelievable to see it. Allahpundit has more:
This story was written not by a Newsweek staffer but by a reporter from the “nonpartisan” Center for Public Integrity, which has been criticized for years for taking money from, among others, Soros’s Open Society Institute. I mention that fact reluctantly, only because at this point the Soros angle is a red herring. After all, there’s nothing in this piece that isn’t perfectly in keeping with the disinformation about Loughner being spread by various other media outlets over the past few days.
Political opportunism isn’t anything new and thankfully most Americans are smart enough to see through this attempt by the media to smear the right. 57% of Americans believe that political rhetoric and the shooting are unrelated; however, 42% of Democrats believe the rhetoric is related to the shooting. We hear a lot about Birthers and some of the stupid things people on the right believe, but 42% believe in something with no basis in reality. 42% of Democrats are either too stupid, too lazy, or too brainwashed to get to the truth on this issue. Unfortunately when Newsweek publishes articles like this it makes it so much easier for people to remain uninformed.
The current political climate isn’t extreme. I touched on what would be the liberal blueprint for the Obama administration back in October 2008.
Can anyone see where this is going? If Obama is elected in a month is this going to be the standard defense for Obama? The opposition is just racist?
…..
It’s amazing to me that the press continues to hang charges of racism and divisiveness on McCain when Obama talks about “typical white people” and refers to rural Americans as bitter, clinging to guns, and religion or antipathy. I’m not sure how Obama expects to bring people together, but it’s obvious the press is doing all they can to tear people apart.
The left is automatically programmed to believe that any opposition to Obama cannot be rational. It can only be explained by ignorance and racism. It’s easy to look down at your opposition if you think they’re stupid. They ridiculed Reagan and Bush for being dumb. Now that the left is obsessed about the President’s race they can project their faux moral superiority over the phantom racists who exist solely on the right. Despite what the left believes they simply can’t wish away what happened during the Bush administration.
If the liberal press had their way Texas Congressional nominee Kesha Rogers would be the new face of the Republican party. She’s wants the United States to get out of the United Nations. Plus, she wants to impeach the president? Why haven’t we heard of Rogers before? She’s a Democrat. Oops, there goes that talking point.
Rogers, 33, told TIME she is a “full time political activist” in the Lyndon LaRouche Youth Movement, a recruiting arm of the LaRouche political organization that is active on many college campuses. The LYM espouses LaRouche opposition to free trade and “globalism” (the UN, the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund) and it also calls for a return to a humanist classical education, emphasizing the works of Plato and Leibnitz. On her professional looking campaign website, kesharogers.com, she touts the LaRouche political philosophy — a mix of support for the economic policies of President Franklin D. Roosevelt and the impeachment of President Obama — and calls Obama a “London and Wall Street backed puppet” whose policies will destroy the Democratic Party. During the campaign, she was photographed carrying an oversized portrait of the President with a Hitler-style moustache penciled on his lip.
I can’t say I know much about Rogers political philosophy, but I must say I’m intrigued. The left is spending so much of its energy branding everyone on the right as crazy, but there’s more than enough to go around on the left.
The mainstream press’ coverage of the gunman in the Pentagon shooting has been predictable. Every time some anarchist attacks someone or something they’re labeled as right-wing extremists. These so-called journalists don’t even bother to dig a little to get to the truth. For example, the IRS incident involved a deranged man who bashed Bush and quoted from the Communist Manifesto. Check out the Christian Science Monitor’s coverage of the Pentagon shooting.
John Patrick Bedell, whom authorities identified as the gunman in the Pentagon shooting on Thursday, appears to have been a right-wing extremist with virulent antigovernment feelings.
If so, that would make the Pentagon shooting the second violent extremist attack on a federal building within the past month. On Feb. 18, Joseph Stack flew a small aircraft into an IRS building in Austin, Texas. Mr. Stack left behind a disjointed screed in which, among other things, he expressed his hatred of the government.
“Appeared” is the key word because right-wing extremists aren’t registered Democrats. Right-wing extremists don’t post anti-Bush tirades all over the internet and they’re certainly not Truthers. Allahpundit over at Hot Air sums it up all very nicely.
Is it possible to be a “left-wing extremist” anymore or do nuts who embrace some lefty ideas before launching an attack automatically fall under the broader heading of “anti-government,” a term that’s conveniently also used to describe conservatives’ opposition to statism? That’s why CSM ended up labeling him a right-winger, I suspect. Righties want a smaller federal government and Bedell hated the military and the military’s part of the federal government. Voila!
It seems the mainstream press lives by the Dan Rather creed. It doesn’t matter what the truth is anymore. The news is fake but accurate.
I can hardly believe it’s been more than three months since we’ve posted about America’s favorite member of the Senate, Tom Harkin. As I’ve stated before the Senator from Iowa endorses loser presidential candidates, creates ironic campaign photo ops, introduces piss-poor legislation, panders to his constituency, eats pork, adds pork to aforementioned piss-poor legislation, and wants to take back the White House. Yeaahgahagaagharwaaa!
Harkin is never silent. There’s just not enough time in the day to keep up with all his ridiculous comments. Over at Hot Air they’ve been watching MSNBC so people like me won’t throw up. I wish someone did the same for Tom Harkin. I’d do it, but I’d probably throw up.
Harkin has a new theory on ObamaCare. The GOP doesn’t want it to pass because they know America will love it.
Visit msnbc.com for breaking news, world news, and news about the economy
This isn’t actually far from the truth. The 30 million or so citizens who get free health care on the backs of all the poor schmucks who have to actually pay for it will love it! The real truth is that the Democrat party wants these people sucking from the teet of the government forever so they’ll vote for the Telly Monster party for life.
Tom Harkin says that as Americans learn more about the bill between now and November they’ll love it. How will Americans learn to love a bill that doesn’t even kick in until 2013? Harkin has been sniffing too much pork.
