The rhetoric from the so-called Progressive left has become progressively poisonous. It is difficult to fathom that one would write or say, let alone think, the disgusting, profane things said and written by leftists about conservatives, particularly conservative women and minorities.
Palin and Bachman are evil bitches and C words, held up as effigies of a particularly degrading form of politicized propaganda. Black conservatives are Uncle Toms who have somehow betrayed their race, simply because they think their race is better than the condescending white guilt that treats them as if they were idiotic children.
This dehumanizing objectification has become the defining tactic of the left; there is no logical defense available for leftist ideology, thus it sinks to the lowest depths of depravity to make its point, such as it is.
When fascism comes to America it will be driving a Prius with a COEXIST bumper sticker.
Witness the Tweets Henshaw regurgitates here in all their glory, and then the righteous indignation, accompanied by profanity and insults, when the Tweeter finds their Tweet at The Daily Plunge. Also witness the commentary on leftist sites like Daily Kos and The Huffington Post. Offensive comments are not relegated to the left side of the blogosphere, but the sheer volume of mean-spirited, ugly commentary is somewhat shocking.
Then again, maybe this is not so shocking. Years ago as an idealistic college student I was attracted to liberalism based on its professions of tolerance and open mindedness. Enthusiasm soon dissolved into disillusionment.
Oddly enough, one of my epiphanies came during an MTV News report on a pro-choice concert headlined by the Red Hot Chili Peppers. It was rather jarring to me that a rock band with a fairly large collection of misogynist songs in its repertoire would be “pro woman.” Then it dawned on me that being pro-choice is not pro-woman at all. It’s another way to degrade women and to tell them that they’re too stupid and immoral to make a right choice before conception.
For some reason, the left embraces an ideology that basically says we’re not much better than animals, and thus need to be treated as such. This is one of the founding principles of the Progressive movement, from its early years as it dabbled in eugenics to its modern-day insistence that man is not a special creation, endowed by his creator with certain inalienable rights.
This is an important area of separation between right and left. If rights are endowed by the creator, government has no real right to either grant them or take them away. However, if rights are endowed by your fellow man, they become arbitrary and subject to the whims of those in power. Moreover, if I am endowed by my creator, I have individual worth, regardless of my views. But if I am just another animal, a parasite on Mother Earth, then it’s easier to make me one of “them” and thus expendable.
Ultimately, what I found was that liberalism was neither tolerant nor open-minded. In fact, liberalism, in its post-modern sense, is not liberal at all; it is totalitarian. This becomes increasingly clear as one samples the vast media landscape of leftist voices, from the anonymous comments at The Daily Kos to the rants of Bill Maher, Jon Stewart, Keith Olbermann, Janeane Garofalo, et al.
They do not respectfully disagree; they demonize anyone who disagrees with them. They aim to take away the very humanity of their opponents, an ancient and effective means of politics that has sometimes led to genocide.
This is yet another reason I believe in limited government. I do not want to be subject to the whims of people who hold such contempt for others in their heart, a contempt that borders on inhumanity. The great massacres of the 20th Century were perpetrated largely by dehumanizing and degrading those being murdered so that the majority of people would simply look away as the atrocities were committed.
The defining characteristic of genocidal regimes is that all real power is concentrated in the central State; all else is subordinate. While I’m obviously concerned about the totalitarian leanings of the left, someone on the left may be concerned about a theocracy. Fair enough, but all of us, left and right, should advocate for a limited federal government because when all power resides in the federal government, we’re all screwed.

Mother Earth is a real bitch. According to some of the more “spiritual” among us, the earthquake and resulting tsunami in Japan were the result of Mother Earth’s anger at human beings in general and Japanese whalers in particular.
When Mother Earth punishes people for their sins against the planet She tends to lash out at everyone but the actual perpetrators. In this latest case, while She may have been angry at whalers, it was other random citizens who paid the price for the whalers’ whaling. But they were Japanese, so close enough I suppose.
Here’s a list of some of Mother Earth’s greatest hits. With most of Her temper tantrums it’s difficult to discern why, exactly, She was pissed. But pissed She was, and all sorts of species paid for Her wrath at whatever She was pissed off about at the time…
250 Million B.C.: Giant volcanic eruption causes the Permian Extinction. Mother Earth apparently pissed at creatures that will later become fossil fuels. Unwittingly creates fossil fuels that will lead to temper tantrums in the 20th and 21st Centuries.
28 Million B.C.: The La Garita Caldera in what is now southwestern Colorado was supposedly the largest volcanic eruption ever. The object of Mother Earth’s wrath this time around is not known.
2.1 Million B.C.: Yellowstone supervolcano eruption causes swath of destruction across middle America. Mother Earth anticipates large collection of gun-toting religious red staters and launches a preemptive strike that turns out to be premature.
75,000 B.C.: The Toba Caldera in present day Sumatra unleashed a hellish winter for at least two years. Apparently, Mother Earth likes to cool things off after a superheated flash of red hot anger. This was actually the result of a spat between Mother Earth and Father Time.
1687: A magnitude 8.5 quake rocks Lima, Peru, destroying much of the city. This area of South America is one of Mother Earth’s favorite places to unleash Her wrath since people there had the audacity to build cities.
1815: The volcanic eruption in Tambora, Indonesia is the largest one in the past 200 years. Mother Earth, for whatever reason, has never been a big fan of this region of the world.
1958: The largest known tsunami wave at 1,720 feet tall hit Litya Bay, Alaska. There are only two things you need to know about Mother Earth’s reasoning here: Alaska and Sarah Palin. Case closed.
A few weeks ago I wrote about Glenn Beck. I’m not too fond of the guy. That aside, it’s a sad indictment of mainstream journalism when a guy like Beck keeps beating them to the punch on issues like ACORN and Van Jones. The White House has become obsessed with FOX news. Who can blame them? Every other major network is bowing at the altar of Obama. Notice the vitriol that has been heaped upon Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh, Andrew Breitbart, and even Sarah Palin. These people are guilty of having a different opinion. Over the past year who has contributed more to news, Glenn Beck or Keith Olbermann?
I’m not going to waste time calling for an advertising boycott of Olbermann. His show seems popular and there’s a demand for his take on politics. More power to him. Is Olbermann less divisive than Rush Limbaugh? It’s a difficult argument to make from the man who has a “world’s worst person” segment on his show. NBC uses Olbermann for sports coverage and liberals don’t seem to mind, but if Rush Limbaugh wants to partially own a team there’s outrage, fake quotes, and lies. No one apologizes because it’s fake but accurate.
It seems as though the left is doing a good job of dismissing all conservatives as stupid, racists, bigots and homophobes. These character assassinations are freezing the debate. If you truly believe, as Janeane Garofalo does, that conservatives have something wrong with their brains there’s a problem. When Garofalo made those asinine remarks Olbermann nodded right along.
The Boy Who Cried Wolf is a fable that teaches us that even when liars tell the truth they’re not believed. Today it seems that simply “crying wolf” is enough to believed. If you call Rush Limbaugh a racist long enough it’s just accepted as truth. If you call Sarah Palin stupid long enough it’s simply the truth. If you say President Obama is a woefully inexperienced, naïve, and liberal you must be a racist. The reason people like Glenn Beck and Andrew Breitbart keep breaking stories is because the mainstream press is too busy crying wolf to cover the news.
Having 24 back on TV has been fantastic. There’s nothing like a little Jack Bauer Power Hour to get the blood pumping. Leftist psycho Janeane Garofalo has joined the cast. Just last week she had an interview that’s so mind numbingly shallow it’s worth reading for entertainment value.
The reason a person is a conservative republican is because something is wrong with them. Again, that’s science – that’s neuroscience. You cannot be well adjusted, open-minded, pluralistic, enlightened and be a republican. It’s counter-intuitive. And they revel in their anti-intellectualism. They revel in their cruelty.
That doesn’t even scratch the surface. She drones on about Sarah Palin. It’s funny, I’d love to see the two of them debate any topic. The best Garofalo could do is throw out obscenities and bad jokes. Hat tip to Pamibe for pointing me to this interview.
My latest revelation about the so-called Progressive Left and its tendency toward fascism came while watching Janeane Garofalo on the Independent Film Channel’s The Henry Rollins Show. Apparently Janeane believes that religious belief is a psychological disorder that must be stamped out, with what I’m sure will be tolerant intervention when the stamping-out time finally arrives and Utopia officially begins.
As an interesting side note, it was this same tolerant intervention that marked the beginning, middle, and end of previous Utopian dreams where “religion” was stamped out in the process, such as Soviet Russia, Castro’s Cuba, Marxist China, Ho Chi Mihn’s Vietnam, Khmer Rouge Cambodia, Sandinista Nicaragua, and other Utopias. As an interesting side side note, the body count of these atheistic Utopias stands at somewhere around 60 million. And that’s a conservative estimate. And, in objective reality, atheism, secular progressivism, liberalism, etc., etc., are nothing but religions dressed up in a God-is-Dead philosophy. But I digress…
Janeane is apparently terrified at the horrific ignorance of the American population in general, and at its imperialistic, racist, and homophobic tendencies. In a truly fascist police state, Janeane’s rage against the machine, or Speaking Truth to Power, would be courageous. But when one rants and the worst they get is a yawn or two, you have to wonder about claims that they’re living under the dark night of Republican fascism.
But the reality is that there’s quite a difference between oppressive America and enlightened nations like Cuba. In the enlightened nations, one who dissents or does not tow the official line is very likely to end up in a torture chamber or “re-education” camp. In America, fascists like Ann Coulter might call you a fag, and we all know how horrible it is to be called a name! Back in the real world, the empirical evidence points to America’s Left as the true fascists.
Fortunately, the great majority of us are not subject, at least officially, to the Left’s fascism. However, if you wanted to get a glimpse of what the Left really means by “tolerance” you need only to peruse the “hate speech” codes at America’s universities. Basically, what the academic Left has been able to foist on the university system would never be tolerated by the public at large, I guess because most of us are ignorant, religious fools. But I do find it strange that the Left will defend what is patently offensive as “freedom of speech” but is aghast when someone says they think affirmative action is a bad idea, or satirizes one of the Left’s Sacraments.
And so, as Jeneane and Mr. Rollins seethe and rant about uptight Middle America, and how these Middle Americans are destroying the earth with their religion and morality, you are given a glimpse into how they might treat those Middle Americans if they were in charge. It ain’t pretty. Meanwhile, Middle America simply sits back and allows the Leftist ragers and ranters to exercise their First Amendment rights, whilst the Leftists devise ways to destroy theirs through the codification of “tolerance” and other euphemisms for the Gulag.
