This Day in Christianphobia

On December 8, 2011, in Politics, by Henshaw

Presidential hopeful Governor Rick Perry hasn’t been on my radar since he couldn’t remember he wanted to eliminate the Energy Department. However, his new campaign advertisement has angered the Christianphobes. I was expecting a lot worse when the ad’s controversy made Mashable, but after watching it I’m left puzzled.

I’m not sure there’s a war on religion in the United States, but the left has no tolerance for Christianity. For example, the University of North Carolina created a “meditation room” for Muslim students to pray after lobbying efforts by Muslim students. Awesome. Who cares, right? Heck, the The Daily Tar Heel greeted the move as an example of “inclusivity and responsiveness.”

This is where liberalism fails. Because they’re not inclusive or responsive. They’re hypocrites. The College Fix sums it up.

Of course, if this room were created due to the demands of and with certain features exclusively for a Christian group, the outcry would be instantaneous and overwhelming. We already saw the criticisms of the Christmas trees in Wilson and Davis libraries. The associate provost in charge of the University libraries gave the reason for removing the trees by arguing that “it didn’t seem right to celebrate one set of customs.”

Rick Perry makes a great point. If Muslims are allowed to worship on campus, if homosexuals are allowed to serve openly, if we are living in a completely tolerant society, why don’t liberals tolerate Christians? There’s nothing controversial about Perry’s ad, but the left’s reaction says a lot about how they view Christians.

Muslims Exempt from Body Scanners?

On March 11, 2010, in Fascism, Politics, by Henshaw

After December’s underwear bomber incident in an airplane over Detroit full body scanners are popping up in airports all over the country. The main purpose of this technology is to prevent Islamic fundamentalists from trying the same stunt again. Well, the Council of American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) believes using the body scanners violates their religion.

The TSA, when confronted by CAIR in this regard, immediately capitulated, thus giving in in the face of yet another Islamic threat.  Simultaneously, the TSA agreed to instruct its security staff, in enforcing the same tortuous security measures for everyone but Muslims, to ‘pat down’ Muslim men and women, with the proviso, of course, that only same gender ‘pat downs’ would be permitted for our Muslim brethren.

The TSA is forcing law abiding Americans to go through a scanner under the pretense that it’s supposed to prevent terrorists from smuggling bombs in their clothing. No one is exempt from this scanner because we don’t want to profile anyone; however, thanks to CAIR, Muslims are exempt upon request from using the scanner. I guess some Muslims do not want to be profiled unless they can use the profile to claim something violates their religion. This is so absurd it defies reality. This is like something from The Onion.

I can’t find any other details about this except from this one source, so I’m a little skeptical; however, the government is stupid enough to do something like this. Even if the TSA is allowing anyone to “opt-out” and get patted down instead, the whole rush to add all these scanners is absurd. Either make them mandatory or don’t install them.

Religion of Peace: Itbah Al-yahud

On February 9, 2010, in Politics, by Henshaw

One of the most eye opening aspects of Mark Steyn’s book American Alone is the amount of Islamic Fundamentalism in Europe. It’s almost as if the citizens in the European states are so tolerant they’re incapable of stopping the intolerant. For those paying attention it seems like there’s some new story everyday documenting Europe’s growing antisemitic population.

Israel’s Deputy Foreign Minister was met by a protester screaming “slaughter the Jews” as he spoke at the Oxford Union. Antisemitic and anti-Israel abuse was shouted throughout Danny Ayalon’s speech on Monday evening, with students causing numerous disruptions to the event.

During the hour-long session one student ran towards Mr Ayalon shouting the Arabic phrase “Itbah Al-Yahud” [Slaughter the Jews].

This is at Oxford and it’s an Oxford student. This isn’t some disadvantaged youth who blames all his problems on Jews. Not to let Cambridge off the hook. The Cambridge Islamic Society has a guest speaker who says he’d be happy to be a suicide bomber. Free speech is alive an well in Europe as long as you’re not a climate change skeptic.

Palestinian academic Azzam Tamimi, who has said he would be happy to be a suicide bomber, will address Cambridge University students tonight, despite calls from the Union of Jewish Students to revoke the invitation.

Who do those Jewish students think they are? What harm can come from Tamimi’s speech? Well, I guess Jews have a whole host of reasons to be concerned.
