In order to learn more about Jeff Greene I went to his website. His seven-minute video literally says nothing about what he wants to do. Greene’s facts page is hilarious. On the facts page we learn that Mike Tyson was the best man at his wedding. Yes, that Mike Tyson. In the next paragraph we learn that Greene had a relationship with Heidi Fleiss,

What was your relationship with Heidi Fleiss?  Did she really live with you?

After Ms. Fleiss was a victim herself of domestic violence, she came to me and asked if she could stay in an extra guest room in a house I owned.  Of course, I allowed her to stay.  Subsequently, she rented some commercial space from a company in which I was involved for a retail store.  As I have said before, I believe in redemption, I try to help people when they are down, and I haven’t lived my life looking over my shoulder in case I run for office some day.

I guess that clears that one up. So far I think Greene would fit pretty well in Washington. I scoured the site and there’s literally nothing of value to read. Ten minutes ago I didn’t know anything about the candidate other than he has a goofy looking commercial. Thanks to Greene’s website I now know he’s probably unfit to serve as Florida’s official dog catcher. Wait…  Greene has a plan for the economy!

Our economy needs a bold, diverse set of policies that stimulate the economy, encourage hiring, facilitate small business growth and development, and strengthen the entrepreneurial spirit that has made this country great and made us a beacon for the world.

What is it you ask? What is the plan of this independent thinker? He wants to spend more money on research and infrastructure. Plus, he wants to extend unemployment benefits even further than two years. These aren’t independent ideas. This is the platform of the Democratic party. The United States is so awesome even someone like Jeff Greene, who has no understanding of economics or even prostitution, can make it in this country. Please stick to real estate, Mr. Greene.

The reason democracies do not work isn’t because people vote for their self interests (he [Bryan Caplan] debunks that idea), but because people are too uninformed to make the correct decision. A citizen may vote for a candidate because he/she is in favor of price controls. The voter thinks price controls are for the best of the country; however, it’s bad for everyone.

The real problem here is voter ignorance and I don’t think it can be solved. The Founding Fathers created our Republic in such a way that the voters didn’t have direct control. The original constitution only allowed direct election of the House of Representatives. The Senate and the President were supposed to be chosen by elected leaders or electors who were better educated about the issues.

It's okay that the typical voter is too ignorant to understand why the minimum wage law hurts low income earners. Our elected officials however, shouldn't indulge the ignorance.

Slowly but surely direct democracy has eaten away at our elected leadership. Political parties now keep finding new things to scare their ignorant constituents into supporting. Senators used to yield to the will of their state legislators, now they’re elected in a mob rule fashion every six years. Voters should be electing the most educated and qualified candidates available. Instead we get movie stars, car dealers, social workers, professional athletes, and career students who run for office. Obviously, some of these people actually understand economics, but the majority doesn’t get it.

I am of the opinion that our Republic has moved “progressively” too far to a direct democracy. However, the cat is already out of the bag.

Is this a justification for the jobs bill or a cry for help? It’s a fairly strong indication that the bill being debated in Congress is worthless when abuse is used for justification. All this time I thought we could blame domestic abuse on the Jews living in Israel

Meanwhile, the President’s approval ratings are continuing to sink. Now that he wants to ram through a very unpopular bill using a rarely used parliamentary tactic I expect his ratings to plummet even more. It appears Barack Obama has his earmuffs on and he doesn’t care what the American people think.

53% of people in Massachusetts think the Congress is too liberal? This is a pretty grim scenario shaping up in November. Call me pessimistic but I just can’t imagine Coakley losing tomorrow. My guess is that there’s an enthusiasm bias in the polls. Democrats aren’t excited and are embarrassed for supporting a horrible candidate simply because there’s a (D) next to the name.
Maybe I’m wrong, but when the leader of the Democrats in the House says, “Let’s remove all doubt, we will have health care — one way or another,” they’ve gone past the point of no return. The Democrats ignored real reform and are hellbent on taking over 1/6 of the economy.

John McCain tried to get an amendment passed that would have given that exemption to every county in the US. Democrats killed it, of course. Turns out there are two Americas. There’s one to which Democrats pander, and there’s the other that gets stuck with the bill.

A couple of weeks ago I wrote my Senator to vote no on this massive government takeover. The Senator’s office sent me an email back basically saying that this bill is better than doing nothing. It’s amazing that idiotic logic like that is being used by our leadership. Anyway, Nelson’s email touched on Medicare exceptions.

Among the improvements I added to the bill in the Finance Committee is a provision that would preserve benefits for an estimated 800,000 Medicare Advantage enrollees in Florida and another provision that would protect tax benefits for seniors who have high medical expenses. I am happy that these provisions are included in Senator Reid’s bill as well.

Democrats are simply lying about Medicare. If they were confident benefits weren’t going to be cut Nelson wouldn’t be offering this amendment. Former presidential candidate and ambulance chaser John Edwards used to talk about “two Americas.” Well, welcome to the new America. One side pays for the Medicare cuts and one side is exempt. Not that I really need to point this out, but the three Florida counties (Palm Beach, Dade, and Broward) that are exempt are heavily Democratic. Change has come America. It’s an ACORN nation.
When Republicans tried to reign in the growth of Medicare every lying Democrat in Washington called it a “cut.” The mainstream press covered this despicable talking point. With this current health care bill the Democrats are raping the program. This is hilarious because Medicare is broken beyond repair and yet these morons are holding it up as a shining example of success. Why isn’t a “true cut” being reported? The past five years I’ve given away approximately $15,000 of my income to Social Security and Medicare. Two programs that I’ll never see a dime for in return. If Americans ever figure out how much money their giving these clowns it could get ugly.
I have an idea. If the government ordered me to donate $5,000 every five years to community organizations. Those organizations would take care of disadvantaged people much more effectively than any government bureaucracy. Everyone would be better off. I’d have more money to save, spend, or invest and local organization would do a better job.
